This is one of those things where your "extra senses" have to be on high alert. Is it too good to be true? Small number of feedback ratings? Large number of feedback ratings (60 or so), but only for modest or small amounts of money? Questionable feedback?
Sometimes in our zest to get a good deal, we ignore valid warning signals. Remember, the cheapest isn't always the least expensive!
One more tip for sellers: did you know that you can cancel someone's bid while the auction is still open if the bidder has an unacceptable feedback rating? It's a little known fact, and hidden pretty well in the rules and regulations, but it can be done. I did it once with no repercussions.
