My sister placed first in the Paranormal/Futuristic/Time Travel category of the Oklahoma Romance Writers of America's "Finally a Bride" contest with her as-yet-unpublished novel Angels of Light. This after placing second in the Paranormal category of the 2003 GOTCHA contest of the Silicon Valley Romance Writers of America with the same novel.

Interesting. You're fortunate to have a creative sibling. And she's pretty darned lucky to have such a gifted brother.

But if she writes that well with a PC, just imagine how well she'd write with a creative's computer!

I looked at her site. Boy, does it ever look like that girl writes morning, noon, and night!

Jadddie's comment is pretty much on target. The woman holds a full time job and many friends, but most evenings it's write, write, write! The key, I think, is personal discipline along with passion for the work. Thanks, Jaddie, I think they're both very special.

Well, I'll tell you what, Mom. I really look up to your son. I'm thirty-five years old, a year older than Jerry, I think, and Jerry just blows me away on everything that I claim to be really good at. Your son is very intellectually alive. You and your husband must have offered your chldren an intellectually stimulating environment throughout their childhoods, as well as good genes, for them to be so gifted. Your children are indeed very special, and not just to you and Pop.

I'm a year older than you, actually, Jaddie -- turned 36 last October.

My mom and dad did the best they could with what they had, which sometimes wasn't much. They are the ones who decided I should go into computers, actually, back when I was in eighth grade, and that turned out to be a very good decision for me. It was for an independent study program. I wanted to write a novel, but they decided I should learn computer programming instead. I was a little resentful at the time, but it turned out to have been smart.

I agree; they always let us move at our own pace, which was in certain instances accelerated. Not so much with math ;) You might be seeing a case of 'I want better opportunities for my kids' coupled with those kids wanting better opportunities.

And thanks for the compliment, Jaddie :) I, at one time, had a Mac, but unfortunately, we didn't share a brain. I started writing stories when I was about ten. Gotta find a positive use for all those voices in my head, mwahaha!

And Jerry, you can write a novel anytime you want...
