[mefi-projects] #060 21-Apr-2003

Hi folks, I know it's been a while. Shortly after I sent the last issue
out, I ran into some technical difficulties with the installation of
sendmail on my Mac, causing things to start bouncing right and left. (I had
to use a local sendmail because I couldn't use Verizon's SMTP server with
anything but a verizon.net e-mail address.) One of the 10.2.x maintenance
updates broke something somewhere and I just never got around to figuring
out what it was. I signed up for a supplemental SMTP server for my personal
mail but they didn't allow distributing mailing lists. But last week I
switched to Speakeasy DSL and it appears that sendmail is happy again for
some unknown reason. So, problem solved the lazy way.

We've got three items this time; in the future I intend to reestablish the
monthly publishing schedule, so if you've got a new site to announce and are
a MetaFilter member, see the end of this message for information on
submitting your announcement.

And, okay, this isn't quite the sort of thing we usually run here, but it's
for a great cause and involves one of our fuzzy animal pals, so why not:

Got a new site or a major change to announce? E-mail the site's name, URL,
your MetaFilter user name, and a brief (fifty words or thereabouts) blurb to
mefi-projects AT jerrykindall.com. If you want to make the moderator a happy
camper, do it in the same format as the ones you see above.
